How to Plan a Month of Facebook Posts in One Afternoon

How to plan a month of Facebook posts in one afternoon

Most small businesses post on Facebook when they remember, then go quiet for weeks when things get busy. The page looks abandoned, and customers wonder if you’re still open. The fix isn’t more time, it’s a plan. With one focused afternoon a month, you can have a post going out every day.

Step 1: Use the 4-type content mix

If every post says “buy now”, people stop paying attention. Rotate between four types:

  • Teach: a tip your customers will find useful. A hardware store shares how to fix a leaking tap; a salon shares how to make a style last.
  • Show: behind the scenes. Your team, your workspace, an order being made, a delivery going out.
  • Prove: a customer review, a before-and-after, a photo of a happy client. Let others do the selling.
  • Sell: a product, price and clear way to order. Make it easy: “WhatsApp +592 … to order.”

A good balance is roughly one sell post for every three others. Followers stay interested, and your sales posts work better because people trust you.

Step 2: Give each day a theme

Themes remove the daily “what do I post?” problem. For example:

DayThemeType
MondayTip of the weekTeach
TuesdayProduct spotlightSell
WednesdayBehind the scenesShow
ThursdayCustomer story or reviewProve
FridayWeekend offerSell
SaturdayQuestion or pollEngage
SundayRest, or a warm community postShow

Step 3: Batch your photos

Set aside one hour to take all the month’s photos at once. Use natural daylight near a window, a plain background and a clean phone lens. Take several angles of each product, a few photos of your team at work and your shopfront. Thirty good photos is enough for a month.

Step 4: Write all the captions in one sitting

Open a notes app and write 30 short captions, one per day, following your themes. Keep each one simple: a first line that grabs attention, one or two lines of detail, and a clear next step (“Message us”, “Comment below”, “WhatsApp to order”). Write the way you’d speak to a customer at the counter.

Step 5: Schedule everything for free

Meta Business Suite (free, at business.facebook.com or in the app) lets you schedule Facebook and Instagram posts weeks ahead. Upload the photo, paste the caption, pick a date and time, and you’re done. Schedule posts for when your customers are online: early morning, lunchtime and evening usually work well in Guyana. Check your page Insights after a few weeks to see which times work best for you.

Step 6: Leave room for the moment

A plan doesn’t stop you posting live. When something good happens, like a big delivery, a holiday, or a happy customer’s message, post it as well. The plan keeps the page active; the extras make it feel alive.

Your afternoon plan

  1. Choose your seven daily themes (15 minutes)
  2. Take 30 photos (1 hour)
  3. Write 30 captions (1 hour)
  4. Schedule them in Meta Business Suite (45 minutes)

Three hours once a month, and your page posts every day while you focus on running the business.
